Ready 2 Repeat
The Houston Astros continue to battle against the A’s for the top spot in the AL West. Richard Oliver and Hector Ledesma discuss the A’s edge over the Astros, coming down the seasons final stretch. Now as the postseason is insight the two teams will go head-to-head one last time.
Let’s examine the battles between these two from the beginning because it gives context to how things have changed.
Houston won 8 of the first 9 games they played from April through mid June. In fact, the champs won 8 straight in this series after the a’s won their first meeting of the year, but since July, Bob Melvin’s club turned the tables coming into tonight. They’ve been playing, if not – some of the best baseball in the majors since then – then the best…so the success against the ‘stros stands to reason.
They’ve come out on top in 5 of their last 7 head-to-heads. It’s important to keep in mind, the champs have, of course, been battling injuries recently…add it all together and the A’s are right on Houston’s heels.
