BRADY WINS 7TH SUPER BOWL AS BUCCANEERS DETHRONE FAVORED KANSAS CITY
Led by a defense that shut down the Chiefs high powered offense, Tampa Bay wins its second championship in franchise history and first since the 2002 season with a 31-9 pasting of the team that finished with a league-best 14-2 record and entered the game a three point favorite. For Tom Brady, named MVP of Super Bowl LV, it’s title number seven in ten Super Bowl appearances. No other quarterback has more than four Super Bowl wins (Joe Montana and Terry Bradshaw).
Kansas City quarterback, Texas Tech alum and East Texas native, Patrick Mahomes has already won an NFL and Super Bowl MVP in his first four seasons in the NFL. But on Sunday he was held 46 yards below his regular season passing average and threw two interceptions while being harassed throughout the night. The Chiefs, who scored at least two touchdowns in every game this season including in a 27-24 win at Tampa Bay in late November, did not get into the end zone in a loss that ended their hopes of a second straight world championship.
