Longhorns Look to Use Alamo Bowl as Springboard for 2021
The No. 20 Texas Longhorns will face the Colorado Buffaloes Tuesday night for the 2020 Valero Alamo Bowl. Kickoff from the Alamodome is set for 8pm CT.
The game will be the 19th meeting between these two teams. The first coming in 1940 and the last in 2009 when the Buffaloes still played in the Big 12. Texas leads the all-time series 11-7.
Head coach Tom Herman became the first Longhorns coach to win his first three bowl games following last year’s Alamo Bowl win. On Tuesday, he can become the first Texas head coach to win four straight bowl games since Mack Brown from 2005-08.
Despite finishing fourth in the BIG 12 standings this year, Coach Herman believes that bowl games can be viewed as a culmination of the season, and can also be used as a springboard for the next year.
“Anytime you play in a bowl game it kind of serves two purposes: one, a culmination of a good season and an opportunity to send your seniors out with a great memory and also like you said to springboard our young guys into the offseason of 2021 and get one last game under their belt.”
