SPURS AVOID SECOND STRAIGHT LOSS TO ROCKETS
Behind Jakob Poeltl, who’d struggled this season, the Spurs bounced back from Thursday’s 109-105 loss to Houston for a 103-91 win against a Rockets team that was still shorthanded in the aftermath of the James Harden trade. Poeltl scored 13 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in playing 13 more minutes that starter LaMarcus Aldridge. The “star” of the game, as Gregg Popovich called him afterward, signed a three-year, 26.2 million dollar contract this off-season to remain with the team after arriving as part of the Kawhi Leonard trade.
The Spurs are next at Portland on Monday at 2:00 CT time.
