SPURS BUILD 29-POINT HALFTIME LEAD, BEAT HAWKS TO START RODEO ROAD TRIP
Powered by a second quarter in which they outscored the Hawks 41 to 19, the Spurs took a 29-point lead into the locker room. San Antonio, which outscored Atlanta by seven after one also won the third period by nine. So by the time the fourth came around they had built a lead that had grown to as many as 39 points and even though they were outscored 42 to 15 in that frame, the Silver and Black still won the game by 11.
Every Spurs starter scored in double figures led by DeMar DeRozan’s 23. Keldon Johnson added 20 followed by Dejounte Murray’s 16 and Jakob Poeltl’s 14. Derrick White, making his second straight start, scored 11 in only 17 minutes. Lonnie Walker IV put in 11 off the bench. Patty Mills led the reserves with 12. Their 77 points in the first half marks a season high.
